POWER OF COVENANTS WITH GOD
Prepare ye the way – My return is sooner than you think.
God wants to raise up and army in these last days to do great exploits. We are being prepared to suffer because we’re facing very difficult times. 911 was a warning of what is coming. God wants an army – He wants someone who’s not going to turn against him when they lose everything they’ve got, He wants someone who’s not going to get mad at Him when their loved ones are killed. He wants someone with enough faith to be able to walk down the street and have someone shoot a gun at them and the bullets will never touch them. He wants someone who can be starving and sit down with no food on the table and give God thanks and food is on the table. That’s what God wants but that only comes through hard times. When young men go into the army and they go to boot camp, is boot camp easy? It’s hard and so it’s time for the army of God to go into boot camp. We’ve talked about miracles, healing, wealth, prosperity and ease too long – war is hell and we’re fixing to enter into war. It hasn’t even started yet but it’s coming and coming fast.
How many of you have heard of Cyndi Jacobs? In 1999 a conference was conducted by Peter Wagner in America. A total of 12 people including Cyndi Jacobs came together and they were all well known famous people in terms of the prophetic and intercessory prayer. They spent a week in prayer and fasting seeking the Lord for a word for America for Y2K (how many remember the Y2K issue?). Cyndi Jacobs and three others got up and testified saying that on the last day of the fast that all 12 of them were transported at the same time into God’s throne room and that God spoke to them and He said Y2K is not a problem. He said but, take your youth and set them in your midst and weep and wail for them because they shall all be killed in war. He said the most evil alliance in the history of the whole world is right now being formed between Islam and the communists. God’s prophecy is true, you cannot stop the coming war.
Revelation 12 10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
We all know what it means to overcome satan by the blood of the Lamb. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we are placed under the covering of the blood of Jesus; our sins are washed away by the blood of Jesus and because of that, makes the provision that we have authority in the name of Jesus over our enemy. The third way of overcoming satan is through martyrdom but you only get to use that once. Many people down through the ages and many more people yet to come have chosen to lay down their lives rather than deny Christ.
This middle part “by the word of their testimony”– what does that mean? Does that mean quoting scripture? No, satan knows the bible better than you and I will ever know it, he has every word the bible memorized in every single version there is, satan knows it all, inside and out.
What does it mean to give a word of testimony about someone?
Let’s just say for example you have a friend who is accused of committing a particular crime and he asks you, will you come to the court to my trial and give a word of testimony for me? Here’s what it means….
You’re going to go into that courtroom and you’re going to go up and you’re going to swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God. And then you’re going to sit down and you’re going to say, now your Honor I know this person, I’ve known him for so many years, I’ve had this kind of contact with him and I know this person well, so I know what kind of a person he is and given any particular set of circumstances I can pretty well tell you what he would do and therefore I can testify to you that the character of this person is such that he would not have committed this crime.
For the most part, husbands and wives know each other well enough to give a word of testimony, why? Because they’ve lived and loved one another every day of their lives since they were married. They have experienced each other on a daily basis. They each know what the other likes, what they hate, what will make them angry, what will make them happy and given any particular circumstances, they can pretty well predict exactly how the other will react and what they will do. You see they can each give a word of testimony of each other because they have experienced each other one on one. My question is….. Do you know God that way?... or do you simply know things about God? The day is going to come in your life and on more than one occasion when you’re going to find yourself nose to nose, face to face with your enemy. And the circumstances are going to look like satan has won and you are going to be absolutely alone. You’re not going to be able to call your pastor, you’re not going to be able to call your prayer partner, you’re not going to be able to call any kind of prayer lines, you won’t have your mother to call up and ask her to pray for you, it’ll just be you and your enemy, no one else… alone! You’ve got to understand that most spiritual warfare is fought alone. You know we talk about marching in the army of God, we sing songs about marching in the army of God and you’re thinking you’re going to have a soldier on this side and a soldier on that side and hopefully a minimum of 10K between you and the enemy. That’s not the way spiritual warfare is fought, it’s fought alone. And in that circumstance you’re not even going to have God…. Because you won’t feel Him, you won’t be aware of Him, your prayers will have gone unanswered and it’s going to seem like God has closed up shop and disappeared. It’s just going to be you and your enemy and what are you going to do?
That’s when you’ve got to have a word of testimony to stand on. That’s when you’ve got to have a history with God. You have to know how God works, you have to know what God is likely to do in that situation because you have experienced Him in the past. And that’s when the issue of covenants comes in because we serve a God who delights to make covenants with His people and this is something that is not generally taught throughout the body of Christ. You see we’re taught about the old covenant that God entered into with the children of Israel and the new covenant that we entered into through Jesus Christ and His blood shed on the cross. Oh but that’s just the beginning! God is a God of covenants and this whole bible from the first page to the last page is a story of God making covenants with individual people.
What is a covenant?
It’s a term we don’t use this day and age very often because along with it goes a term that is absolutely no longer popular and that’s the word “commitment”. It means you actually do and follow through with what you say you’re going to do whether it’s convenient for you or not! But a covenant is a contract, it is an agreement between two parties.
How many of you have a mortgage, loan on a car or credit card? You are in a covenant relationship with a lending institution. Now why is it do you suppose that those lending institutions have these long forms with little tiny print that you need a magnifying glass to read and you have to sign all these pages before you can get your loan? Because they know all men are liars….. and they don’t trust you to fulfil your side of the covenant. Has anyone ever walked into your bank and said I’d like a mortgage for a home and just given a handshake and got the mortgage? I don’t think so. But you have to understand that in God’s kingdom His covenants are verbal, they are spoken.
The Psalmist says “Oh God you magnify Your Word above Your name”, because God’s word is absolute! When God says He’s going to do something, it’s as good as done, you can take it to the bank, it’s water tight and better than any loan papers you ever signed with any bank because the God of the universe stands behind it.
So let’s begin to look at this principle and how it works so you get the idea.
In Revelation 12 it said that satan stood before the throne of God and accused the saints how often? DAY AND NIGHT. So it wasn’t just once a day, it was many many times a day and this is one point you need to understand, satan talks to God all the time. There’s a huge amount of communication between satan and God and they are continually talking about what’s going on down here on the face of the earth. And the more you get an understanding of that principle, the better able you will be to fight spiritual warfare.
Job 1:6-12 6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan[b] also came among them. 7 And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?” So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.” 8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?” 9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing?10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!” 12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
Maybe you’re in difficult times right now. Do you reckon maybe God’s made a bet with satan over you? God made a bet with satan over Job. He made a bet…… and the problem is we’re being taught if you have enough faith, if you pray right, if you proclaim this way or that way you’re going to have the victory. None of that had any help for Job did it? You know Jobs 3 friends, good charismatic brothers came to pray for Job because they had faith and they knew that they served a healing God and they went and they prayed for Job and nothing happened. Well, they knew it wasn’t their fault, they had faith. They knew it wasn’t God’s fault, because God’s a healing God, therefore they came to the conclusion that it must be Job’s fault.
It had nothing to do with any of that; God simply had made a bet with satan. But my point is God and satan talk. They talk daily and they talk about you, they talk about your husband, your wife, your children, your church, your work, your school – they talk about YOU and everybody on the face of the earth.
Now let’s look at some examples of how we can operate without understanding, knowing that we serve a God who delights in making covenants with individual people. Do you know that God wants to covenant with you? The problem is, when our life goes along pretty good, everything’s fine, we’re happy and we sometimes slack off a little bit in our relationship with the Lord and we’re not spending so much time in prayer or reading the bible…. All of a sudden BOOM, a crisis happens! And then we go running to the bible and we start flipping through the pages trying to find a promise. We then find this promise and we think we can claim that promise to manipulate God into bailing us out of trouble. Well, that’s the way we work, is it not? Honesty does hurt sometimes.
That’s not the way God works. You see God wants to prepare you before the trouble comes. If you wait until the trouble arrives you’ve waited too long and you’re in a really tough situation.
Genesis 6 God looked around on all the earth and He was grieved because he saw that all the thoughts and the intensions of men were only evil all the time and He said “You know what? I am sorry that I created the human race. I’m sorry, but I’m going to wipe them out, just destroy them”. But there was Noah. Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. And so the Lord came to Noah and He spoke to him.
Gen 6 17 And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die. 18 But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. 19 And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female….. and so forth.
God entered into a covenant with Noah right there. This is a covenant!
God said, Noah, you obey me and you build an ark and when the flood comes I’ll keep you alive. Noah said OK.
120yrs Noah spent building the ark. He would’ve been the laughing stock of the community – in this day and age we’re an instant generation we want everything like McDonalds, drive up to the drive in window, one minute later you’ve got your order, whatever you want to eat you want it quick and cheap - in God’s kingdom it’s long and expensive.
His kingdom is opposite of what Australia and America is today. 120 years!! And suddenly it began to rain – the earth had never experienced rain before that – it was just dew on the ground, they didn’t know what rain was. Well just prior to the rain, God’s voice thundered through heaven, “I have judged, everything on the earth shall die”, and satan said “Hallelujah” because satan hates human beings and satan and the demons had a party. They were delighted, everything was gonna die and the flood waters rose and the people shrieked and cried and they pounded on the sides of the ark and they couldn’t get in and they drowned, and the animals drowned and everything drowned and the destruction was complete and all of a sudden satan looked and there in the vast expanse of water was bobbing this little tiny ark and he went down for a closer look. There were eight people down there. Wait a minute, God said everything shall die and he went flying up to heaven and he said “God!” “Yes satan”. “Did you not say everything shall die?” “Yes satan I did”. “Did you not say everything that has breath shall be destroyed?” “Yes that’s correct satan, that’s what I said”. “Ok God look over there, in that Ark over there, there’s eight breathing people, I wanna sink the ark”. And God said, “Well, there’s a problem there satan, you see 120 years ago I made a covenant with my servant Noah and I never break my covenants”.
God has made many covenants.
Turn to Exodus 6:2 And God spoke to Moses and He said to him; I am the Lord, and I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty but by my name Lord I was not known. I have also established my covenant with them.
You see God here is clearly demonstrating to Moses that He is a God of covenants with individual human beings.
1Samuel 16:1 Now the Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons.” 12 So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!” 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
Now this is a story of God making a covenant with David. David was only a teenager at this point in time. He was a very young boy and God said “David, I’m making a covenant with you that one day you shall be king over all Israel”. Well, so the wars came, the Philistines came, David won the battle with Goliath, then David began fighting and the people started singing “Saul has killed his thousands but David has killed tens of thousands”. Now do you think satan was pleased to have David killing off his servants by the tens of thousands? Do you? No, so satans says “I gotta get rid of this David, this is entirely unacceptable, I cannot have David killing off all my servants. I’ll just get hold of Saul”. So satan went down, took over Saul and roused jealousy in his heart, he made Saul angry at David and Saul purposed to kill David. Now, when Samuel first anointed Saul King over Israel, God told Samuel, “You tell them how a king will behave. A king shall have the power of life and death, the king will own you and the king will own everything you have. He can take your sons and daughters to be his servants, he will tax your lands, he will tax your produce in other words you will become the property of the king. The king will have absolute power over you – God said that and Samuel pronounced it. So, Saul tried to kill David, he passed out the edict – David must die! But God kept saving him. satan didn’t like it, so satan goes running up to God’s throne…. “God, didn’t you tell the children of Israel that the king will have absolute authority of life and death over every one of his subjects? Yes, that’s correct satan, I did say that. Is your word not true? Absolutely satan, it is true. Does Saul not have that kind of power over his subjects? Yes satan Saul does. Then Saul has proclaimed that David must be killed but you keep saving him, get your hands off of him! Well satan you see there’s a problem here, years ago when David was but a young lad I made a covenant with him and I cannot break my covenant. 😋
You see, God legally binds himself ahead of time because God can never break a covenant, He can never break His word and God knows the end from the beginning. Do you know that God knows how satan is gonna attack you before satan himself even thinks it up? And so God legally binds himself because when God makes a covenant He is legally bound to fulfill the terms of the covenant and David recognized that and so David wrote so many beautiful psalms and in one David said, “I know that God will fulfill His purpose for me”, David was standing on that covenant. He knew that God would never break His covenant with him. You see God thinks in terms of years and years and years. We think in terms of only tomorrow, maybe one week in advance, possibly to the end of the month but not much farther than that. But that’s not how God thinks and that’s not how satan thinks. God wants to prepare you years in advance for what’s gonna come in your life.
Another example of a covenant
2Chron 29 – This is a story of king Hezekiah. He was a good king who restored the temple and restored the temple worship. He tore down the pagan altars and slew the priests. The pagan altars, idols and priests all directly worshipped and served demon spirits and satan – that was their purpose. So when you read about the pagan altars and the high places and all this kinda stuff, we’re talking about satan worship. And do you think satan was pleased that Hezekiah was destroying all his servants? Satans not gonna take something like that lying down – it’s just not gonna be so, he’s gonna fight back. But in the midst of doing all this Hezekiah verse 10 said this; “Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel that His fierce wrath may turn away from us. My sons do not be negligent now, for the Lord has chosen you to stand before Him, to serve Him and that you should minister to Him and burn incense”.
Do you see this?! Hezekiah understood the principle of covenance, he said “it is in my heart to make a covenant with God, that His wrath might turn away from us, that He would protect us from the enemy”. And God entered into the covenant with him.
Now turn to 2Chron 32 – now Hezekiah went on about his business and started cleansing the nation of Israel, he restored the worship of the one true God and satan got mad and said, “Ok, I’m going to destroy this upstart King Hezekiah! How dare he stand against me; how dare he kill off my servants. And so he rose up Shinacharib, the king of Assyria and do you know that if you take a secular course of world history that the Assyrian nation amongst even the secular people is given credit for being the most cruel nation on earth. Assyria was known for it’s cruelty. And so he brought this vast huge army against the city of Jerusalem and King Hezekiah saw it and there was a whole city surrounded by an army so vast that they couldn’t even count the number of the people. And so in 2 Chron 32:7 “The people sat on the wall and they were taunted by Shinecharib, “You think your God’s gonna save you? Every other place we went, the god’s couldn’t do anything and here we are, we’re gonna tear you apart”. But Hezekiah stood up, verse 7, “Be strong a courageous and do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria nor before all the multitude with him for there are more with us than with him”. With him meaning Shinecharib is an arm of flesh, but with us the Lord our God to help us to fight our battles and the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah King of Judah.
You see, Hezekiah was standing on his covenant because God had agreed to Hezekiahs covenant and Hezekiah literally went in before the Lord and he said “Oh Lord, your covenant”. Here has come this army to destroy us but You are a God who never breaks His covenant.
Judges 1:2 – God proclaims “I never break my covenants”.
And so God sent an angel and He killed off the whole army of Assyria and they went out the next morning and found them all dead. And Shenacherib went back to Assyria and he himself was killed. God kept the covenant.
But first of all I have to tell you, God and satan, they had a little conversation. Satan went up to God’s heaven and he said “Ok God, my army is in place, it’s superior to the Israelites, You God have permitted me to strengthen Assyria, you have permitted me to have my army destroy all the other nations, I want Hezekiah.” God said, “No satan sorry, you see some time ago, Hezekiah came and he said, Lord, it’s in my heart to enter into a covenant with You”. This is an example of someone initiating a covenant with God. Normally, it’s God initiating covenant’s with us, but sometimes the Holy Spirit will lay it in our heart to initiate a covenant with God. He said, “No, I granted Hezekiah’s covenant, I cannot break it, sorry satan, you just lost your army”.
BEWARE! The affects of sin can be devastating
You know, you go out there and you sin, do you wanna know what happens? Satans flying up before God, “Do you see what your servant did? She hasn’t repented, she hasn’t confessed, that gives me the legal right to defeat her.” And God says, “Yes satan you’re right, defeat her”. Your kids go out and take drugs, your kids go out and violate the law, your kids go out and have sex. You parents might think your child has a good heart and this is just a fad that they’re going through but satans petitioning for your child, “God, you see what this kids doing, he’s having sex, I wanna give him AIDS, God has to say go ahead.”
But you can go up there and say “Lord, I’m the mother, I’m counter petitioning satan”. You see, when you become aware of how much conversation goes on between satan and God you can go up there and put your 2 cents worth in too. Satan gets away with so much because we never counter his petitions. He stands up there and petitions and petitions and we’re <snoring> or we’re busy watching television or we're playing our ipads. We need to get up there and begin counter petitioning satan. Don’t let satan get away with it, get up there and lodge your petitions against him.
Your husband is out there drinking? You are married and you are one in flesh. You have the right to represent him before God. You can say: “Lord I know my husband's out there drinking but God I’m one with him, I have the right to stand before You, I’m counter petitioning, satan get your hands off him”
There are two covenants that every Christian on the face of this earth must initiate. The first covenant is when you make the choice that Jesus is going to be your saviour – you initiate that covenant. The second covenant is you making Jesus the master over every area of your life.
Get a piece of paper, write down a list such as:
Am I gonna finish college, am I gonna have a career, will I be successful in my career, where will I live, will I get married, will I have children, what will happen to my marriage, what will happen to my children, will I ever make any money, will I own a home, what will happen to my physical body. Are you willing for God to allow you to be in an auto accident and you’d be paralyzed in a wheel chair all the rest of your life – will you still serve Him? You’ve reached the point where you can no longer continue to grow spiritually until you enter into this covenant.
When you make God the master over your life you then need to let God choose how He wants to work in your life.
The Bible says “Be filled with the Holy Spirit” Get down on your knees and ask God to fill you as He chooses.” After doing this you will notice a change.
Obey God despite your desires and allow God to be master over every area of your life. And keep in mind, God’s going to test every area of your covenant.
When you’re single ask God to give you the gift to remain single – this gift was given to the apostle Paul. There’s no sense in wasting time being lonely and depressed – rather take all that energy and pour it into Gods service.
Young people, forget the dating game, you’re just going to get your emotions involved and marry the wrong person – forget dating. Just live your life as a servant, nothing else.
Example of a Covenant request that God made with Rebecca.
The second covenant God made with Rebecca was when He asked her permission to use her in any way that He chose as an instrument directly against satan himself personally and his kingdom. He said she would become world famous but she would never come to know Him personally as she would had she chosen this other road. Rebecca talked to her pastor who after some discussion said to Rebecca, don’t do it. It’s too much suffering, it’s too big, don’t enter into that covenant. He said you’re young now but one day you’ll be old and the covenant will still apply. You have energy now but in your old age you won’t have the energy to fight, don’t do it. One day she came across a psalm which said, “behold I will be with you in your old age just as I was with you in your young years”. She said yes Lord let me memorize that scripture verse. But what she said was at the end of the day, she is the servant, He’s the Master, there is no other choice. She entered into the covenant. She lost her medical practice, was accused of practicing witchcraft rituals instead of medicine and her license was revoked for 7 years. She lost her home and she became a street person. From being a very busy practicing physician, suddenly she was on the streets. She said the greatest joy she had was leading people to Christ in her medical practice. There was never one day that went by where she didn’t lead at least one person to Jesus. All of a sudden she was without the ability to share the gospel with anybody and as a result she fell into deep depression. She had done all God asked her to do but now she has nothing. She thought God had betrayed her. She felt she had gone out on a limb and He cut it off and now she was suicidal. God spoke to her and said, “I, Jesus know what it’s like to be weak, I’ve been there. Life is hard”. And then He asked her if she wanted to break the covenant? He said, “If I never raise you up out of this gutter that you’re sitting in will you still serve me? If I never give you another opportunity to lead another person to Christ will you still serve me? If I never restore a thing and remain a street person all of your days, will you still serve me?”
Don’t let your ministry become your god. God can always find someone else to do what you’re doing even better.
Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
After reading this scripture she said "yes God I will still serve You". She stayed in that gutter for one whole year before God lifted her out. God is interested in one thing only and that is our willingness to obey. As long as you’re willing to obey, He can do anything through you. There was only one perfect servant on earth and that was His son, otherwise He has no perfect servants. How freeing is it to know that?
Pick your friends wisely
We are full of weaknesses and don’t all your friends want to know about them? They even gossip about them and they feel much better than you. But God isn’t interested in your weaknesses, He’s interested in one thing only – your obedience. Every time you step out in obedience, He will bless. Friendships are important but you should be very careful who you align yourself with and sometimes you will have to sever relationships when you encounter situations where these friends are no longer a positive influence or godly support in your life. You don’t have time to mess with people like that.
God never breaks a covenant. You can never make a covenant with God to try and manipulate Him to get you out of a situation. If you want to get started, you first have to make Jesus master over every area of your life. Only after you’ve made that first step, that will enable God to prepare you for what’s coming and to make covenants with you that you can stand on.
Can you initiate a covenant?
The answer is “rarely”. There may be a time when the Holy Spirit will grant you a covenant.
Covenant made in error example - One man said he made a covenant with the Lord that he shall never be hungry, that he would always have enough money to pay his bills and that he would never be sick. The answer to that covenant is obviously No but some people have set ideas about what they want and only time will tell whether they are right or wrong.
Make that Covenant now!
God will speak to you because God knows what’s coming in the future and He wants to prepare you for it. So if you’re willing to enter into that covenant to make Jesus the total master over your life move quickly and enter in now. You may already be saved, this is for saved people. If you’re not saved then you’d better get saved and ask Jesus to be your Lord & Master. If you want to know how to get saved.... click here How to know God
There are many people out there who have never finalized the issue of His mastership in their lives but you can today.
Keep in mind though..... You can’t enter this covenant and think that you’re going to be successful, have all your bills paid, someone’s going to give me a million dollars. More than likely you’ll go bankrupt. God’s going to test you. He’s not interested in whether you’re driving a Mercedes, He’s interested in what’s in your heart and if you violate the covenant, if you try and take control back, do you know what’s going to happen? God’s going to chastise you. You know at school you can flunk a test but in God’s kingdom it doesn’t work that way. Do you know what happens when you fail a test in God’s kingdom? You get to take it all over again, and again, and again… until you finally pass it. And then after you’ve passed it, maybe a couple of years later He may think you need a refresher course. Let’s try that test all over again, that’s the way God works. This is of your own free will but it is binding on you, legally binding for all of eternity. Woe unto you if you try to break out of this covenant, God’s chastisement can be so severe it could be unto death. God doesn’t play games, churches play games, God does not. This is deadly serious! So if you’re still willing after all that and want to enter into this covenant then we’re going to do this like a marriage vow because basically that’s what it is; Jesus Christ is your bridegroom, only in our earthly wedding ceremonies, it’s until death do us part. However, this is forever and ever and ever because death doesn’t part us in this case. So, our covenants are spoken. I’m going to ask you a question and if you are in agreement I want you to open your mouth and speak out loud and say “I do”.
Then raise your hands and prayer, “Father God I thank you today, you’ve written my covenant down in heaven and you have accepted it. Lord Jesus you’re the Master, I’m the servant. Take my life, it is Yours from this day forward. And now Oh Lord, I ask you today to fill me with Your Holy Spirit and give me the power to walk in this covenant all the days of my life and I thank you for it in Jesus’ name – Amen.”
Another Covenant:
The Lord made another covenant with Rebecca and He said, “I am making a covenant with you, I am giving to you a spiritual gift to impart.” The apostle Paul in Romans chapter 1 told the romans saying “I’m anxious to come to you that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift that we may be edified together in Christ. Now what this spiritual gift is, is a passionate, all consuming desire to come to know God personally. Only the Holy Spirit can do this for you. Jesus said no man comes unto me unless God the Father draws him. No one else can do this in your life, only God can do it in your life. And the Lord told her that He would impart that gift if she desired it. Those of you who have entered in the covenant of making Jesus the total Master of every area of your life, if you desire the gift it is available to you. But let me warn you, it’s going to interfere with everything you want to do. A measure of your religion is how much your relationship with God directly interferes with your personal private life because this “All consuming desire” is going to totally run against your natural desires. But it’s an all consuming desire to get to know God deeper on a personal level, to hear His voice, to have Him manifest to you. And Jesus promises you that on the reception of this gift that He will manifest himself to you in a fresh and a new way that you’ve never before experienced. That He would teach you to hear His voice in a fresh and a new way that you never before experienced. And so if you desire this gift raise your hands and I will pray for you.
You are a God who never breaks His covenants. And today O Lord I impart in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, God and King of the universe this gift of a passionate all consuming desire to come to know You God personally and to hear your voice. I impart it to every person who’s hand is raised. And Lord Jesus it is my prayer that You will teach each person who receives this gift to hear Your voice in a fresh and a new way that they have never before experienced. That you will manifest yourself to them in a way that they have never before experienced. Blessed Holy Spirit I ask that every time they pick up the bible that You will teach them personally and directly from Your word so that they will understand. Show them things that they have never seen before. Speak to them, guide them, protect them, make covenants with them and prepare them for what’s to come and I thank you for it in Jesus name.
Now your covenant is sealed in heaven but it’s also very helpful to have such covenants in writing because it’s very easy to go about your life and a year from now you forget all about it. You can download this Certificate of Covenant which is blank but fill it in with all the details and it will always be a reminder to you of the Covenant you made today.
